Trainer Resources: Connect and Interchange

Note that Interchange and Connect are linked on the training course id/SKU (Rec001, Rec004w, etc).

Once the training is listed in Interchange and uploaded as Content onto Connect, the following steps must be taken for customers to automatically access the training.

  1. Create a new Group in Connect.
    1. Click Administration, then Users and Groups.
    2. Scroll down and click the New Group button.
    3. In the Name field, type the SKU that you used for the course in Interchange.  Type a description if you want.
    4. Click Next.  If you want to add any existing users (e.g., yourself or fellow trainers) to the group, you can do so here.  Click Finish when done.
  2. Need to publish content into a NEW COURSE.
    1. Opening Training menu item.
    2. Select folder for new course.
    3. Select New Course.
    4. Course ID is the SKU number used in Interchange.
    5. Enter custom URL (Course ID would be good for this field, as well).
    6. Change Start Date and Close Date (if applicable). If course goes through the end of year, put 12 AM, January 1 of the following year.
    7. Click Next; locate and select content.
    8. Search Available Users and Groups for the SKU (group name) or other enrollees as applicable.  Select and click Add, then Next.
    9. Send notification on start date.
    10. Finish.

Then follow instructions for Adding Items to Categories and Reloading the Navigation Menu.

At this point, someone in the Pesticide office will need to add the course to the applicable state reports.

Turn of year:
Training modules should be created for the calendar year, and expire at the end of the year (or more specifically, at 12 AM on January 1 of the following year). When the new year comes, the Trainings should be recreated (generally from the same content) in Connect with a new course number. A Group needs to be created using the same name as the course number.

To change the SKU (course number) in Interchange, the item (training module) needs to be "cloned," using the new course number for the SKU. Then the original item should be deleted. Finally, the course needs to be added to the state reports as required.
