Download Acrobat Presenter 6 (Breeze plug-in) (Log-in required; after installing, set server to http://breeze.wsu.edu.). Note: This Presenter download does not work with PowerPoint 2007. Your options are to use PowerPoint 2003 or 97, or to download Presenter and then check with Bob Hoffmann for the patch.

Bob gets good audio by positioning the microphone to the side and above the mouth, about even with the tip of the nose.

Converting videos to Flash; incorporating control buttons

Connect and Presenter only accept the Flash movie format. You need a full version of Macromedia Flash to do the conversion. To convert your movie into Flash, first download the version of the Flash control buttons that you would like to use:
Blue Buttons

Yellow Buttons

Green Buttons

Gray Buttons

Then follow the steps in this Flash Demonstration.
Or, you can download an unrefined, unedited Word version of this.
This shows the use of Flash 6. Flash 8 may have a much simpler movie import process.

Note: Only SWFs published at 30 frames per second can be played back properly. Also, Flash 6 does not work well with MP4 files. Save as MP3 before importing. In Acrobat Connect 6, use the Flash 7 format.

Troubleshooting

Breeze won't record course completion.

Breeze 5.1
If this is intermittent for a particular course:
Allow users only one attempt (under "Edit Quiz Settings" > "Pass or Fail Options" > "If failing grade") to take the quiz. This is distinguished from the Question Settings, where you can allow a user an infinite number of attempts to get a question correct.
If you allow multiple attempts to take the quiz, the trainee may go back to the quiz questions, and start taking the quiz again. Under some (or perhaps all) circumstances, this will prevent the course from recording as being completed.
See Adobe Tech Note.

Additionally, make sure each quiz has the following setting:
In the Quiz Manager, click Edit Quiz Settings. In the Quiz Settings tab, make sure the Required field is set at Answer All - the user must answer every question to continue.

Under this configuration, a person taking a quiz will not be able to skip around or review course material. Once they begin a quiz, they most go through sequentially, must answer each question, and cannot go back to review a question or change an answer. You may want to inform your trainees of this before they begin. Also, you may want to warn then mot to open the training in another window, as this can create technical problems and prevent them from ever receiving a completion in the course.

When republishing a quiz that was created in Breeze 4, the questions no longer proceed to the next slide.
From Macromedia: "...the solution would be to create a new presentation... presentations created in version 4 and then edited in version 5 may not work correctly and will need to be recreated in order to correctly function. The Breeze 5.1 plug-in, however, should allow proper publishing of quizzes created in version 4.

If this is constant for a particular course:
Check to see if the sequence of questions in the Quiz Manager is the same as the sequence of the quiz questions in the slide presentation. If not, rearrange the sequence in the Quiz Manager to correspond with the sequence of questions in the slide show.
If you need help with this, contact Bob Hoffmann.

Quiz advances to correct slide indicated by Pass/Fail option, but doesn't stop there, even if I check "Pause after each animation" under "Presentation settings."
From Macromedia: In order to solve the issue of the next slide appearing, you need to add one more slide at the end of your presentation. Then under the Slide properties for the Correct (or Incorrect) slide you need to set the slide to go to the newly inserted slide.

For example, imagine that you have the following set up:

Slide 1 - Question Slide
Slide 2 - Quiz Results
Slide 3 - Go to Extension Web site
Slide 4 - Go to Macromedia Web site

To get it so that you can skip slide 4 you need to add another slide, such as

Slide 5 - Thank you for taking the quiz

Then under BREEZE | Slide Properties, you need to set the Next Slide for Slide 3 to Slide 5. Then it will skip slide 4 and display slide 5. You can also pause both slide 3 and 4 from this option menu, so the user needs to click to move on to the next slide. This is found under the slide properties. Under each individual slide, there is an 'Advance by User' check box that can be checked to stop the presentation and make it so the user needs to forward the slide.
