WSU Cooperative Extension has recently finalized a couple of partnering efforts with other units at WSU to help with WSUs student recruitment efforts.
Effective immediately, Christa Vibbert has joined Cooperative Extension to work with counties on student recruitment with particular emphasis on 4-H members. She has extensive experience as a student recruiter for CAHE and the university. Christa is focusing her efforts on counties in the NW District. Her appointment is the result of a new partnership between Cooperative Extension and the Office of the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management. Christas office is at WSU West, 520 Pike Street, Suite 1101, Seattle, WA 98101-3916, (206-448-1330).
Another new face assisting CE with recruiting efforts is actually a familiar one to most WSU Learning Center staff. In July, Cliff Moore of Extended University Services (EUS), joined Cooperative Extension on a 30% appointment as Extension Program Leader for Outreach and Recruitment. Cliff has been at WSU for nine years; his first position was as Program Manager for the International Agricultural Training Program, which was based in CAHE. He has been with EUS since 1992, where he was Recruitment and Marketing Specialist for Extended Degree Programs (EDP), Community Outreach Coordinator, and, since 1998, Associate Director.
With EUS, Cliff is responsible for overall marketing and recruiting efforts for Extended Degree Programs. He has been liaison to Cooperative Extension and WSU learning centers for the past five years. His Extension appointment is, in a very real sense, a formalization of the work he has been a part of for quite awhile, since the learning centers and EDP have increased collaboration in recent years. Cliff will provide leadership as county offices become more involved in outreach and recruitment for the broader university.
Christa and Cliff join Ellen Murphy, who last year joined the Office of Multicultural Students Services as part of a partnership with Cooperative Extension. Together with Pat BoyEs, these individuals comprise the Cooperative Extension student recruitment leadership team. They will work across the state with faculty and staff to develop and implement strategies that will attract quality students to WSU. We are excited to have this group leading our new emphasis on student recruitment.
